Please kindly note that Ljubljana prides itself with an abundance of pedestrian areas which are free of traffic. Walking or cycling is the way citizens of Ljubljana navigate the city streets. Most of the hotels are within walking distance of the congress venue. On a warm late summer´s day, it is the best way to get from point A to point B and get to know the city.

  1. Ljubljana public transport

Those wishing to travel on Ljubljana city buses should purchase the Urbana public transport card. The Urbana card is available from LPP ticket offices – the so-called Urbanomats (vendor machines) are located all around the city and please look for them, tourist information centres and most of the city’s newspaper kiosks, news-stands and post offices.

The card is priced at €2.00 and can store up to €50.00 of credit to be spent on city bus fares.

The Urbana card can be topped up with cash at all the above mentioned sales outlets and the green Urbanomat ticket machines located across the city, mostly next to bus stops. The ticket machines accept both cash and credit and debit cards.

A single journey fare is €1.20. It covers an up to 90-minute journey regardless of the number of buses needed to be changed to reach the destination.

  1. BICIKELJ BICYCLE-SHARING SYSTEM

The BicikeLJ bicycle-sharing system gives you an opportunity to hire bikes from self-service terminals located across the wider Ljubljana city centre. BicikeLJ bikes are particularly suitable for shorter, up to an hour-long rides as hire is free if you return a hired bicycle to the nearest docking station within an hour and wait for five minutes before hiring a new one.

The use of the BicikeLJ system is practically free of charge. The only cost involved is the symbolic fee for compulsory online registration with the system, which stands at €1.00 for a week and €3.00 for a year and must be completed in advance of hiring.
